BETTER TREATMENT IN THE HOSPITAL

MEDTECH is used by doctors for better treatment in the hospital and mostly comes in the form of devices and tools. It is used for treatment, diagnosing, monitoring, enhancing lives trough artificial body parts. It is regulated.

PATIENTS OUTSIDE THE HOSPITAL

HEALTHTECH is mostly for the use of patients outside the hospital, with practice management software being the exception. Ussualy comes in the form of apps and wearables used for prevention, personal care, monitoring. It is not regulated or barely regulated.

LAB WORK

BIOTECH is a broad scientific field that requires extensive work of researchers. The work is mostly in the labs, rather than in the field. The product of biotech is mostly drugs, genetic screening and modified organisms used for treatment. It is heavily regulated.

Участие в конференцията ще вземат 10 водещи световни експерти, повече от 20 представители на инвеститорски компании в областта на рисковия капитал, както и над 50 водещи български учени. По време на бизнес панел ще бъдат представени дейностите на над 20 български компании, а в изложението на произведени у нас иновативни продукти или услуги Made in Bulgaria 2.0 ще се включат още 20 проекта.

The first edition of the “Spinoff Bulgaria” international conference, which will take place in Burgas on September 1-2, 2022. Event place: International Congress Center Burgas is located in the Public Access Area of Port of Burgas.

“Spinoff Bulgaria” is an international conference that aims to create and implement a sustainable spin-off ecosystem and culture, which by 2030 will create 100 new technological startups originating from science universities or existing corporations. We are strongly focused on the New European Innovation Strategy and how it can be implemented in the best way in the further coming Bulgarian innovation strategy. We curate our program to include the topics shaping the future and speakers whose stories inspired the innovative ecosystem.

The initiative was created by Health and Life Sciences Cluster Bulgaria, Artificial Intelligence Cluster Bulgaria and Venrize ltd. (the first venture studio for deep tech companies), with the support of the Bulgarian Employer Association for innovative technology (BRAIT) and with general partner BSMEPA - Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises. The event focuses on enabling SMEs to expand their network and connect with key international partners. Within the event, it is planned to have content that encourages companies to enter into closer collaboration with universities and existing scientific infrastructure.

The main focuses of the program are: • State support for creating spinoffs: Academic technology transfer and corporate spinoff programs. // • Commercialization of innovation in academia: Investment in early-stage innovation and access to the ecosystem. // • Good examples of Bulgarian and international spinoffs that will have the opportunity to present themselves (pitch deck) to investors. // • The new European Innovation Strategy

With our conference, we aim to give room to the discussions of different stakeholders like investors, university leaders or legal experts to let the audience deep dive into the dos and don’ts of tech transfer. The programme consists of plenary sessions with Q&As, panels, active networking, and matchmaking opportunities. During the conference will be the official start of the national competition for innovative spinoffs, “The best Spinoff Bulgaria ‘2022”, which will take place annually and offer early-stage projects an opportunity to get support, valuation, market access, awareness and investment.

Professor Zhelev reviewed the advances in medical biotechnologies transforming drug development and healthcare and presented the innovative venture building and technology transfer approach employed by Venrize Life Sciences to turn scientific innovation into high potential ventures.

“We reviewed the different models worldwide and found a solution and a best practice coming from the UK. The huge economic crisis in 2009 pushed their government and life sciences ecosystem to think of a new model called venture build studios. So we decided to start a series of events with key stakeholders from the local ecosystem and international experts with a great know-how”, commented Kristina Eskenazi, Chair of the Health & Life Sciences Cluster. “As part of our first event, dedicated to the role of venture building in ecosystem development and economic growth, the audience had the chance to draw on the experience of Alper Celen, the founder of Enhance Ventures – a venture studio specializing in online vertical marketplaces in the Middle East ,North Africa, Pakistan, and Turkey.”
